The Food Was Great
I told
Gladys that we had better pack food and water before going. I am one
of those difficult people who just hates to try new foods. Give me
simple stuff like hamburgers, spaghetti, Chinese food, meat and potatoes
and I am a happy camper. I wanted to buy tuna fish to bring with me
or maybe some canned Ravioli. I figured I wouldn't eat the fish, would
be afraid of any mystery food they might serve and would starve that
week...boy, was I wrong again. It turned out that they had a great
chef on board who must have been brought up in my neighborhood in
Brooklyn, New York.

It was
the dedicated team on board that made each meal a true delight. From
Raul who supervised the meals and picnics, to our crew who did everything
from peel the potatoes to serving us, it was apparent that the staff
all worked together like a well trained team. They knew how to get
the job done and to make sure their guests were well taken care of.

What can I
say, we were blessed. A great crew, a great trip and great fellow
passengers. Not one person in our group of 27 smoked cigarettes, so
it was a pleasant smoke free environment. We were all in the same
age group with the exception of the two Botti girls... Nicole and
Noelle who came with their Mom Gayle and her friend Kathy Weiss.
We all shared common experiences, talked about our other travel adventures
(yes, we know we have to go to Africa next) and generally had a wonderful
time. On October 16th Gladys and I celebrated our 36th Wedding Anniversary.
We shared a glass of wine with a few guests and soon we had a trio
of our crew strumming guitars and singing to us, along with cheers
from the entire dining room staff and passengers. It was so warm and
welcome and made us feel so glad we chose to spend this year this
way. Thank you all for your friendship and warmth.
Happy Hour & The La Turmalina Band
There
was no lack of entertainment on board even though there were
no TV's in our cabins, there was always something to do. After
lunch we were able to take a nap because it was too hot to go
out, so after lunch it was "Siesta Time" which I began
to look forward to each day.
Then on our return in the evening and an hour
before dinner up on the upper deck we had our Happy Hour.

Each night the crew put on colorful tropical shirts, they decided
on a new funny name for the band and we sat, had some cold drinks,
popcorn and listened and danced to the music of the La Turmalina
Band. These guys did everything from cook to clean to entertain,
